5 Days and 4 Nights Bamboo Rafting Adventure and Meet Orang Utan in Kaja Island

We will go to the hinterland of Meratus Mountain and trek into the jungle. Meet the local Dayak tribe and learn about their tradional lifestyle. Itinerary:

Day 1: BANJARMASIN ARRIVAL, PANDAK DAUN, LOKSADO (L, D)
Upon arrival at Banjarmasin airport, meeting service, by car/minibus transfer to Pandak Daun stilt build swamp village where we can observe the unique activity of the buffaloes farmers, during late afternoon when the water buffaloes swim return to the stall. We can enjoy the romantic sunset outlook over the swamp water-land, before we continue to Loksado for overnight at lodge.

Day 2: LOKSADO, MERATUS MOUNTAINS RAINFOREST TREKKING (B, L, D)
Breakfast, before we proceed to the foot of the Meratus Mountain from where we start our jungle trek to  Dayak villages, the trek lead us to primary and secondary rainforest, over hills and passing waterfalls, we will cross hanging and suspended bamboo bridges between the farmlands, over the rivers and cascades, to meet the local Dayak tribe in their longhouses. In the afternoon, we will continue our trek to return to Loksado lodge over a different trail of rain forest. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at Loksado lodge.

Day 3: LOKSADO, BAMBOO RAFTING, BANJARMASIN (B, L, D)
Eraly Monring we have our breakfast at the Lodge, where a new adventure awaits, we will cruise downstream the Amadit River by a handmade Bamboo raft, crossing the beautiful landscape of tropical rain forest along the river bank to end up at Muara Hariang, where the car will wait us for the drive to Banjarmasin, Lunch en route, Dinner at Local Restaurant, Overnight at Hotel Banjarmasin.

Day 4: FLOATING MARKET, PALANGKARAYA, MOUNT TANGKILING, RUNGAN SARI (B, L, D)
Early in the morning, we will visit the floating market of Banjarmasin as being part of Kalimantan’s river-life, here we can explore the unique culture of Banjarese who trade commodities as fruit, and vegetables from boat to boat. Afterwards we return to the hotel, check-out of the Hotel, and continue our journey overland by car/minibus to Palangka Raya, on the way you see village life with rice plantations, and swamp forest.  Upon arrival at Palangkaraya, we check in at Rungan Sari Lodge. Lunch on the way at local restaurant, In the afternoon, we bring a visit to the Mount Tangkiling, which give us a nice view of Kalimantan ‘s emerald jungle landscape from the top.

We continue to visit the orangutan Rehabilitation center Nyaru Menteng arboretum for information of the rehabilitation process of these wildlife creatures, which can only be found at Sumatra and Borneo Island, We close our day visits with a romantic sunset which we can view the best from the Tahai lake. Dinner at Local Restaurant.

Day 5:  KAJA ISLAND, PALANGKARAYA AIRPORT (B)
After breakfast in the morning, we will proceed to the harbor of Rungan River for cruise by canoe upstream Rungan River to Kaja Island ( Pulau Kaja ), Kaja Island is covered with lowland forest, with lots of wildlife and birds, where we can spot the orangutans from the river side, Afterwards we return to Sari Lodge, free at leisure, till departure time to Palangkaraya airport to catch your flight to your next destination.

5D4N Beyond Kalimantan Wildlife: Mahakam River, Dayak Longhouse, Bolowan River, Proboscis Monkey, Fresh Water Dolphins, Kutai National Park, Orangutan Research Station, and Houseboat

Itinerary:
Day 01: BALIKPAPAN, SAMARINDA, MAHAKAM (LD)

Upon arrival at Balikpapan airport, meeting service and transfer to Loa Janan, to board houseboat for exciting adventure on Mahakam river. Meals provided and overnight on houseboat.

Day 02: MUARA MUNTAI, MANCONG, TANJUNG ISUY (BLD)
Short sight seeing at Muara Muntai Wooden village, then crossing Jempang Lake by motor canoe to Mancong. During the cruise you could see Rain forest and wildlife at Ohong creek like monkey’s and birds, Upon arrival at Mancong, welcomed with a traditional ceremony by the Dayaq Benuaq, one of the Oldest Dayak Longhouse of East Kalimantan can be found here, Late afternoon by motor canoe to Tanjung Isuy for sightseeing and continue to Houseboat for dinner and overnight. Houseboat will cruise up to Muara Pahu.

Day 03: MUARA PAHU, DOLPHIN & BOLOWAN RIVER, DOWNSTREAM (BLD)
Arrive at Muara Pahu, cruise up Bolowan river by canoe, along the river bank, we see the Exotic Kutai culture collide with the nature, after a while we will pass the proboscis Monkeys Island, to spot these rare red endangered longnose monkeys closely, before we move into the black water peat swamp forest land near Semayang Lake, with opportunities to spot the fresh water dolphins around and move into the Bolowan River. Late Afternoon, return downstream to Tenggarong.

Day 04: TENGGARONG, SANGATTA, KUTAI NATIONAL PARK (BLD)
Early in the morning downstream by houseboat to Tenggarong. Arrive at Tenggarong, visiting the former palace of Sultan Kutai Kartanegara. Where you will see the Sultan's impressive collection of heirlooms, ceramics, Dayak's art and culture items. Afterwards by car to Sangatta village, cruising up Sangatta River by motor canoe into the jungle of Kutai National Park. Upon Arrival at Prefab Orangutan Research station, we will drop our stuff and direct start a jungle trek into the forest, looking for wildlife and Orangutans, which are completely wild. Lunch on the way, Dinner and overnight at Prefab station, hearing the jungle sounds by night.

Day 05: SANGATTA, KUTAI NATIONAL PARK, BALIKPAPAN (BL)
Early in the morning another forest trek at Kutai National Park searching for wild life and orangutans, experiencing the beauty of the flora & fauna of the Rainforest. Afterwards by car to Balikpapan airport for your flight to your next destination.
