Itinerary for Komodo Flores Discovery Tour 8D7N:

Day 01: Denpasar - Labuan Bajo - Rinca Island (L,D)
Arrive at Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo West Flores, meet our guide and go to Labuan Bajo harbor for Rinca Island. Lunch on board, about 2 hour sail to the island of Komodo Dragon. Trekking on Rinca Island starts from the ticket gate at Loh Buaya to Waewaso, which takes 2 hours and provides the best opportunity to see dragons and their prey, as well as other wild animals such as Timor deer, wild buffalo, long-tailed macaque, numemous birds and wild boar. You will pass the dragon nests and out into the sunshine across an exposed savannah that is studded with lontar palms. You will visit a permanent waterhole in Waewaso, across steep, exposed slopes that offer breathtaking views. You will have dinner and spend the night on boat.

Day 02: Rinca – Komodo island – Labuan Bajo (B,L,D)
Early in the morning go to Komodo island, arrive in Komodo and take medium trek, about 1 1/2 hours. You will pass a waterhole where the Timor deer and wild boar frequently come to drink. Sometimes, komodo dragons can be found there lying around and waiting. You will climb Sulphurea Hill and Frigate Hill, where a magnificent view across the islands, bays and beaches awaits. Return to the boat and proceed to a pink beach. This peculiar beach gets its color from red coral fragments. It is definitely a great place to spend your vacation by just laying back or enjoying the underwater world with your snorkeling equipment. Lunch will be served on board and return to Labuan Bajo in the afternoon. You will stay at Puri Sari Hotel or similar hotel.

Day 3: Labuan Bajo – Ruteng (B,L,D)
After having a breakfast on the boat you will go by AC-coach to Ruteng.  On the way you will visit Mirror stone Ngadhu and Bhaga at Luba Traditional village of Ngada cave ( stalactites and stalagmites), Lembor rice field Golo Cara to see a circular rice field arranged like a spider web. You will have Dinner and stay at MBC susteran or similar.

Day 4: Ruteng – Bajawa (B,L,D)
After breakfast, you will depart from your hotel to visit Golo Curu with its very nice scenery from Ruteng town. In the north side along the mountain line of Mandosawu,you will see an enchanting panorama of rice field. Back to Ruteng and visit Ruteng Puu before you leave for Bajawa. On the way you will stop in Rana Mese lake, Aimere. Such villages are found in rather great numbers in the area. You will have dinner and stay at Villa Silverin or Sanian Hotel.

Day 05. Bajawa - Riung Marine Garden (B,L,D)
Early morning departure from Bajawa to Riung, stop by at Soa hot spring for swimming and breakfast, then continue to Riung, check in at Pondok SVD or Bintang Wisata then transfer to Riung  harbor to visit Riung marine park by boat. First you will sail to Ontoloe Island to see the flying fox then to Rutong Beach Island - Riung Marine Park to go snorkeling, swimming and relaxing on Rutong island. In the afternoon you will go back to Riung. Lunch will be provided on the island. You will have dinner and stay at Pondok SVD or Bintang Wisata Hotel Riung or similar.

Day 06: Riung - Aegele - Ende - Moni (B,L,D)
Drive through the north costal areas of Flores to  Mbay, then drive up to Aegela, with its nice scenery of rice fields. Stop for a while in Nanga Penda beach to see the blue stone, continue driving to Ende where you will visit lokal market and have lunch. After lunch you will drive to Moni. Soft trekking will be done in Detusoko.  You will have
dinner and spend the night at Kelimutu Moni Eco Lodge.

Day 07: Moni - Kelimutu Lake - Maumere (B,L,D)
At 4 am you will drive up to the three-colored lake of Kelimutu– one of the most spectacular and mysterious sights in Indonesia. Then you will return to the hotel for breakfast, then visit Wolowaru traditional village, and go to Paga and Maumere. You will have dinner and stay at Sea World Club Maumere.

Day 08: Maumere – Denpasar (b)
Transfer to Frans Seda airport for the flight back to Denpasar.

"Worth a trip to see those komodos."

I have mixed feeling about this visit because it is a little too staged. However, it is still worthwhile to see these unique reptiles. A guide is obligatory in the park. There is about a 2-3 km...
